The pictures show plots for the three breeds under evaluation, viz: Sorghum, pearl millet and groundnuts. Planting was done in mid July. There was an invasion of army worms in mid August, which was controlled. Working in conjunction with the DVC Dr Wafula and Dr Mwania, The Dean of the School of Agriculture, Dr. Virginia Mwanzia has put together a team of faculty members who are working hard to place Lukenya University in its rightful place in the family of internationally recognized research institutions. The evaluation program seeks to develop climate smart seed breeds suitable for semi-arid and arid zones to combat the challenges posed by climate change to farming and food security in this regions.
