To be eligible for admission into the university, an applicant must be a holder of:

  1. KCSE certificate with a minimum of aggregate of C+ (plus) and a minimum of C (plain) in both Mathematics and English.
  2. EACE/KCE/KACE/EAACE certificate with a minimum of five (5) credits in any five subjects at ‘O’ level and two principals at A level.
  3. 12th grade certificate with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5.
  4. IGCSE certificate with a minimum of five (5) upper level passes.
  5. GCE certificate with minimum of five (5) upper level passes at ‘O’ level and ‘A’ level passes of C grade.
  6. Any other qualification(s) that may be approved by the university senate.

OR

  1. A holder of diploma or professional certificate in a relevant discipline from an institution recognized by the senate of the university and Commission for University Education.

                      OR

  1. A holder of any other qualification accepted by the senate of the university and Commission for University Education.

Possible Careers

The Bachelor of Commerce Program will prepare candidates for any career in Accounting; Finance; Human Resource; Marketing and Management Science. Graduates will also be equipped to work as public accountants in commercial or government administration, or in private practice.

Expected Learning Outcome of the programme

At the end of the programme, learners will be expected to:

  1. Apply the knowledge learned to the key tasks in business functional areas.
  2. Carry out necessary research to help in decision making.
  3. Solve emerging problems and changes in business organisation.
  4. Conduct business practices within acceptable legal framework.
  5. Communicate effectively

Credit Transfer

  1. A student who has taken a similar programme in an accredited university may be allowed to transfer credits to similar units of the programme up to a maximum of 48% of the total units.
  2. No credit transfer will be allowed for grades below C or a GPA of 2.0 on a GPA scale of 1-4.
  3. Credit transfers shall only be granted within the first and second years of study.
  4. The student must undertake the practicum under the University he or she intends to graduate from.
  5. Where a student is to transfer a course with a pre-requisite, such a pre-requisite must have been covered at the University where the student is transferring from.
  6. All core courses for the programme must be taken by the student in the University if he/she intends to graduate.
